Something is changing in travel. In fact, it's been changing for a while. We're no longer settling for itineraries manufactured for the masses. And we don't just want "authentic" either. Even that has lost its luster. What we really want is more. More meaning. Genuine substance in our encounters. Closer attention to what's in the background. Ample time to be with a place, not just at it.
We want more humanity in our travels.
But we also want less. Fewer scripted tours and replicated routes. Fewer nights between points of interest. Less mapping the "off-the-beaten-track."
And definitely less Insta perfection.
Most travel to escape the reality that binds them. Few travel to encounter a greater reality beyond them. What many travelers haven't realized yet: they are not only seeking a new destination. They are yearning to find themselves within one.
Tourism has long been tarnished by city-sized cruise ships that pollute our oceans, weekend getaways that systematically overwhelm fragile destinations, and carelessly crammed "must-see" checklists with no thought for the people or places affected by these indifferent ways.
A decade ago, it barely registered as a category. Within it, the fastest growing demand is not for luxury or adventure. It is for meaning. For travel that transforms.
This growth is not because the industry suddenly grew a conscience. It is because millions of people, like you and me, are actively choosing to travel with a lighter footprint. We're voting with our values.
That is the good news.
And the better news? Thousands of new travel advisors enter the industry every year, feeling obligated to continue what has always been. Almost none of them knows how to design for this rising demand.
How is that better news? Because where there is a gap that wide, there is an opportunity that rare.
That, my fellow wanderer, is where you come in. Yes, you. The one who travels consciously. The one who travels curiously. The one who prefers to collect moments, not mementos.
Maybe you are already in tourism as a guide, host, or designer. But somewhere along the way, something started to feel hollow. You're not satisfied with offering the usual anymore. It falls short. And your values never quite aligned with the profit-over-people model the industry has always been known for. You got in because you simply love to travel, and you meant no harm to anyone. But from the inside, what's been seen can't be unseen. You don't want out. You want better.
Or maybe you are not in travel at all, but you travel often, and you're smitten. Maybe it was a life-shifting journey that expanded you forever, and you could never go back to the person you were before. And now you feel a deep longing to make travel your way of life. Not just a hobby, but a real career. But how?
My point is, you are here now, on this page, facing a grand opportunity.
Because I can't name it for you. But what would you call an opportunity that hands you the blueprint to build the life you've been longing for? Not just the blueprint, but the knowledge to craft your own transformative travel brand from the ground up, built to your standards, not the industry's. One that also teaches you how to meaningfully design, confidently price, and ethically sell your trips. The opportunity is here.
So, give it your name, and I'll give you the how-to.
The Certificate in Transformative Travel Design (CTTD) is a professional certification unlike anything currently available in the travel industry. In fact, it might be the first of its kind. It's the education and training branch of Wanderloving Travel, my ethical travel brand, built from years of journeys I've personally led long before this certificate existed.
Most travel design programs teach how to "achieve" transformation. They hand you the framework first and expect that the meaning follows. Instead, the CTTD approach is rooted in our very nature. A method called "show me, don't tell me." We don't begin with lectures or theory but with lived experience. Your actual transformation becomes the foundation everything else is built on. Unlike any other professional training currently available in this field, it begins where it should. Not in a classroom, but on the journey.
Our curriculum begins in Morocco, on a 10-day journey personally designed and led by me — the founder and creator of the CTTD. Colorful threads of moments and meaning, gathered along the way, become the raw material for everything that follows. New beliefs may surface while old ones unravel. But that is what travel does. Before you can design for transformation, you must be transformed by design. You cannot give what you have not received.
From everything gathered there, the CTTD continues online, in the comfort of your home. Thread by thread, the thoughtfully paced curriculum takes everything Morocco opened in you, gives it purpose, form, and structure, and delivers a professional practice into your hands.
What emerges is a vessel of your own making: a Signature Journey — built from what you lived and learned — for your country, your culture, and to your standard. Not a replica of Morocco. It will carry your travelers through their own transformation, the way Morocco once carried you.
The professional framework to meaningfully design, confidently price, and ethically sell your trips — the piece most programs leave out entirely.
A Field Guide: your personal professional reference document, built throughout the program and carried into your practice for life.
The discernment to know the difference between travel that transforms and travel that merely impresses.
The wisdom to grow your transformative travel brand with integrity for any traveler, in any landscape, at any stage of your career.
The Certificate in Transformative Travel Design — proof of everything you've become and a credential that tells the world not just what you do, but what you know and what you stand for.
Lifelong membership in a global community of Journey Weavers.
Most programs in this field are built like ladders. Each level higher than the last, each credential more advanced than the one before. The implicit message: the further you climb, the better you become.
There is something else a ladder implies. A measuring rod held by someone else. A ranking of who has learned more, who has climbed higher, whose credential carries more weight. Exams. Grades. External evaluators deciding how good you are.
Instead, you learn to be your own measuring rod. To trust yourself, not your certificate. You learn to read a situation and respond to the unexpected with integrity and compassion. To set your own standard and raise it when the work demands it. Because the only measuring rod that will matter when you are facing a nervous traveler who is about to be stretched out of their comfort zone is the one you carry inside you. No framework will save you in that moment. No acronym. No certification level. Only your instinct, your intuition, and your capacity to respond with everything you actually are. That cannot be learned through academia alone. It can only be developed through experience, reflection, and formation.
Which is why the CTTD is built around circles, not ladders. Five of them, interlocking and moving outward from the center. No top. No hierarchy. No Circle more important than another. The inner journey that begins in Circle 1 is just as essential at graduation as it was on the first day.
In indigenous traditions across the globe, from the medicine wheel to the mandala to the Amazigh geometric patterns, the circle is the shape of wholeness. No beginning, no end. No single point is more important than another. Everything is in relationship with everything else.
And unlike virtually every other professional training in this field, the CTTD does not teach from a Western-centric view of learning, of travel, or of what it means to design with integrity. The frameworks it draws from are as likely to come from Andean philosophy, Māori knowledge, or Ubuntu principles as from any European or North American model. Because the world your travelers will move through is not Western-centric either.
This is also why the program does not feel like a course when you are inside it. It feels like a journey. Because it is one.
What the CTTD teaches is alive and grows with every journey, every encounter, and every traveler you hold. The only way to teach something alive is to make the teaching itself alive. Which is why the CTTD begins not with a framework but with your own transformation.
The Inner Journey
It begins with you in Morocco. Your own transformation. Your own encounter with what travel can do to a person when it is designed with intention and integrity. Before you design a single transformative journey for someone else, you experience one yourself.
The Human Community
Then outward, to the people. The communities whose culture, livelihood, and dignity your journeys will move through. Who they are. What they need. How to serve and honor them without extracting from them.
The Living World
Further still, to the Earth itself. The ecosystems, the landscapes, and the older stories carried by the land and its ancestors, rather than the colonized cities. What regenerative design actually means when the destination is fragile and the traveler's footprint is real.
The Traveler in Full
Then to the full spectrum of human beings who travel. Not the default traveler. Every traveler, regardless of age, ability, or identity. Seen completely, designed with insight, welcomed without assumption.
The Design Studio
Where everything comes together. Your Signature Journey takes its final form, fully designed, priced, and ready to take to market. This is where the Journey Weaver emerges.
The first cohort of the CTTD will be deliberately small. Not because of capacity, but becausetransformation requires intimacy and space.
These select few will not simply be the first students of the CTTD; they will be contributors, too.Their feedback, stories, and breakthroughs will inform every future cohort. They will also be thefirst six people anywhere to hold the Certificate in Transformative Travel Design—a credentialthat does not yet exist anywhere else in the world.
I'm actively looking for a Founding Cohort that reflects the human family, its cultures, backgrounds, and walks of life. Because the methodology only grows stronger when it's testedagainst more than one way of seeing.
To be part of the Founding Cohort is to be present at the beginning of somethinggroundbreaking. It is to set a new standard in tourism at a moment when the change is already athand. Not as a follower of the shift, but as a leader of it.
This is not a marketing claim. It is a genuine invitation to help illuminate the values thattransformative travel design will be guided by.
My parents were road-tripping from the US through Central America in a VW bug, crossing seven countries. They fearlessly navigated unpaved roads and jungle bridges at a time when the Pan-American Highway was barely a promise. It was January, 1964, and Panama was in the grip of political unrest. But between the obstacles, there was rhythm and romance. You can say that was my womb — my origin story. Nine months later, back in Texas, I arrived already wired for wanderment.
That wanderment unfolded into a life lived across continents and cultures. Eventually it took me to Morocco, where I spent three years in the small Amazigh town of Tahannout. Those years and the relationships built there became the foundation of everything Wanderloving Travel is today.
In 2023 I designed and led my first small group on a cultural caravan through the south of Morocco. What I didn't expect was the depth of that journey: the connections, the joy, the stories my group was still telling months later.
That trip made something clear to me. This needed to become my life.
A Certificate in Transformative Travel Design did not exist, so I decided to create it. Because I knew there were other passionate travelers who shared my values, had lived experience, and felt the calling but had no roadmap. This is the roadmap I never had. The result of many years of wandering with an open heart and mind and learning how to be a respectful guest wherever I travel. I created this for you. Yes, you. The one who travels consciously. The one who travels curiously. The one who prefers to collect moments, not mementos.
If something here has resonated with or inspired you, I'd love to hear from you. The Founding Circle is small and intentionally selected, not open enrollment. Before any commitment there is a conversation to make sure this is genuinely right for you.
Take the first step toward your Certificate in Transformative Travel Design. I'll take it from there.
